Wilfred Thesiger collection and more.

I am currently working on a project where I have been looking for some early photos of Saudi Arabia. I discovered a few years ago that the Pitt Rivers Museum here in Oxford has the collection of all Wilfred Thesiger’s photos and I finally have the opportunity to be able to make use of it. Its really a beautiful collection and well worth spending some time on the website. 

I also realised that Oxford University houses another great resource of photos in the Middle East Centre Archive of St Anthony’s College. There are some really fascinating images on the website but I plan to make a trip to the archive in the next week or two and take a proper look.
